I went to ballet on Wednesday. I was so ready and excited to be back
after not being there for three weeks. It has been so hard not being
able to dance! I can't express the way it has felt, and usually I would
express through dance. I went in feeling good, but after the first side
of plies, my knee popped out again. I thought it was normal and I was
just a little bit out out of shape, so I tried to keep going. I found
myself just standing at the barre in pain. It was so hard. I knew I
wouldn't be able to stay for the whole class if I couldn't even get
through barre. I was so disappointed. I limped into the dressing room,
grabbed my phone, and called my mom, hoping she wouldn't be on the plane
to Paris yet. As soon as she picked up, I started crying. I explained
what happened, still in pain and she said it was going to be OK. She
called one of her amazing friends to come get me. I am so thankful for
my moms friends. They are all so fabulous and I want to be just like all
of them. I had to miss a mandatory orchestra concert, because I
couldn't really walk. All I could do was ice my knee until nutcracker
that night. I was so glad that I was able to get through nutcracker
rehearsal. I was in so much mental pain from not being able to stay at
ballet. I miss dancing and my knee cannot heal fast enough. I just need
to get back to class!

Oh Ruby, I wish your knee was better already! I am so sorry I'm not there to help you! Don't put on a brave face for Grandma...just rest that knee. I love how you express yourself in words AND in dance. I'm thinking, Nutcracker, then surgery, recuperate over Christmas and be dancing full force before you know it. Can you still practice guitar? Maybe you could use this time to learn that incredibly hard piece Mr. Johnson loves. Love you!
SURGERY?!?!? Oh man, I am so sorry Ruby. That is so hard. You'll be back to full strength before you know it. heal knee, heal!
So tough!!! We are so sorry this has happened. We sure love ya!
I'm so sorry Ruby for the pain you are suffering right now, mentally and physically. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are such a determined girl, I feel you will make it through this, hopefully without surgery. I am so sorry this happened, we love you, and wish you the best. Love, Tricia and all, XO
Ruby, I am so sorry about your darn knee! It must be very difficult to not be able to dance right now...I know that you are able to relieve a lot of stress through dancing.
I will definitely keep my fingers crossed that you can keep up your strength for Nutcracker, and that your knee will be better before we know it.
